At my midwifery practise you will receive holistic, friendly and professional care and guidance for pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period including breastfeeding. I provide services in the capital region and at the House of Midwives in Etelä-Haaga.
You can book birth class, breastfeeding counseling, acupuncture or just midwife appointment with me
I offer personal midwife appointments at the House of Midwives and midwife home visits; choose the best way to meet your midwife. Advice over the phone can sometimes be enough. I
also offer acupuncture as a holistic treatment for many ailments as well as for support in my midwifery treatments.
During pregnancy you can come to the House of Midwives alone or with your birth partner. The first birth can still be ahead of you and the unknown raises many thoughts and physical feelings.
Birth related fears and previous negative birthing experiences also need attention and processing in good time before the next birth. It’s very important to find your own strength and the joy of birth – a personal midwife can be a part of the journey to discover these.
The Midwife appointments are what you need them to be, for example:
Discussion and guidance on a particular subject: why something was done at a previous birth, how to avoid tearing, how to manage at home with contractions, re my breasts good for
breastfeeding, bathing the baby, acupuncture and Gua Sha use during birth, the benefits and possibilities of water birthing at the hospital etc.
Preparing for birth by drawing: drawing can teach you to listen to yourself better as a birther and to find subliminal wishes, fears and strengths. This method requires no drawing skills. You can
draw your own birth labyrinth that can work as a power poster in your birth.
Relaxing coccyx- and metamorphosis massage by activating the parasympathetic nervous system.
Creating a Birth Plan together with your midwife: A birth plan doesn’t guarantee the progression of the birth or the fulfilment of all your wishes, but it creates a direction towards which you will
journey in your birth. It will also help your hospital midwife, who doesn’t know you from before, to consider the wishes and thoughts that are carrying you towards the birth of your child.
Other: listening to the baby’s heartbeat, checking the positioning and presentation of the baby, blood pressure check-ups, dealing with feelings and frustrations that being past the due date
brings etc.
I wish to help you find your own path in recovering from pregnancy and birth and entering successful breastfeeding and parenting. My midwife appointment is there to assist you after
birth in areas you wish to be helped. I also offer acupuncture and Gua Sha as a holistic form of care.
The services I offer during this time can be:
I have been talking about postpartum life with Danielle Bensky in Birthing in Finland’s podcast.
The childbed period at home. If you’re getting discharged early as an outpatient (when you stay in the hospital for only about 6 hours after the birth) or are discharged the following day after birth, I can come and attend you at home.
Can you see what you’re already good at? What disturbs your peace during breastfeeding? Can something be done?
If you’re concerned about breastfeeding, caring for the baby, the changes in your body or other issues related to motherhood, I ́m here for you. I want to help you find your own path in breastfeeding and motherhood.
The sooner you get help for issues with breastfeeding, the less likely they are to turn into real problems. Many things affect the success of breastfeeding. It’s typical that the snowball effect of
problems only creates more problems. This is why it’s better to seek help early on rather than later when the probelms have gone deeper.

We will help and guide you, so that your experience will be as you want it. Birth doesn’t always go as planned and we are here for you when you need help and someone to talk to. Everyone’s
journey with every birth is different.
If you have not been able to enjoy a full dose of oxytocin during birth there are many ways to increase it after birth. Keeping the baby in skin-to-skin contact as much as possible is one of the
most important things, that increases the pleasure and calming hormones and decreases stress hormones of both mother and baby.
The experience of birth affects a woman’s life for better and for worse. At best a woman is empowered by giving birth, both as a mother and as a woman. At its worst and without support
afterwards, birth can sap the strength of a woman for a long time afterwards. There are often many questions about the birth: why, what and how things were done. Primarily the midwife attending the birth can answer these questions.
Based on the birth report that you receive (or later request from archives) from the hospital and your own telling of the event, we can as midwives answer a lot of questions and bring clarity and
meaning to things that may be foggy or unclear.
Discussion can be explaning medical procedures or dig deeper into the challenging events of the birth. The Birth Story Listener® can help you to see your birth in a new light. This can be one possible way to opening up trauma and fear stemming from the birth.
It is not therapy, but a tool with which the birther can herself find the difficult spots in her birth and possibly reasons for why she experiences them strongly. The idea behind this is that the birth happened to you and you create meaning for different events. What is traumatic for one person can represent safety for someone else. With the Birth Art®-method you can draw feelings and dig into what the process brings to the surface.
Sometimes physical care is needed and acupuncture, gua-sha, reflexology or metamorphosismassage can then help to start the process.

TCM acupuncture approaches ailments holistically. It is based on balance within person and does not separate physical and mental ailments. The goal of acupuncture is to move the life-force, Qi. Acupuncture treatments can be used in all phases of life – also during pregnancy, birth, postpartum and menopause. During pregnancy acupuncture is a safe, economic and effective way of treating both the mother and the little one in the womb. I treat most pregnancy related ailments from heart-burn to common cold.
At birth acupressure – instead of acupuncture – is an easy and fast way to help. At my midwifery-acupuncture appointment I can teach your birth partner the way to use acupressure at birth. Many birthing women find acupressure a great help – pain is relieved, labour starts and birth progresses.
After birth acupuncture and acupressure eases discomfort, adds to your energy and raises the milk supply. You can use acupressure gently on your baby too, although mostly babies are
treated through their mother.
Breech presentation and acupuncture
The baby’s position in the womb before birth begins is not so significant. When you want to attempt to turn a baby using acupuncture I suggest starting at pregnancy week 34 or after. The baby moving in the womb is an attempt to turn and you should facilitate the turn as much as possible. Find a suitable position in which you can relax, so that the baby can turn – this can be
a shoulder stand or lying on the bed.
Don’t do deep squats if you have a breeched baby, because that will attach the presenting part (the buttocks) into the pelvis. Instead choose positions in which you are upside-down to
encourage the baby’s buttocks to lift out of your pelvis. When the baby turns/is turned head down it’s time to take a long walk and do deep squats, in order to get the head lodged into your pelvis and prevent the baby from turning back to breech.
Turning a breech with moxibustion
Heat the acupoints (BL 67) on the outer edges of the little toes with moxibustion sticks 1–2 times a day, 15 min per point. Continue this for five days or until the baby has turned.
